Two SDSS Delegates Chosen For Ottawa Conference, January 16th, 2025.
Two well-rounded 16 year-old SDSS students were selected to attend the Rotary Adventures in Citizenship program in Ottawa May 25 to 28th, along with 150 other 16-18 year olds from across Canada. Hamna Hussein will be sponsored by the Southampton Rotary Club while Ewan Dennison will be sponsored by the Port Elgin Rotary Club. This all-expenses-paid conference will allow them to rub shoulders with other young leaders across Canada, while gaining a better understanding of our country. Through meetings with political leaders, senior officials, and others, the students will learn a great deal about the workings of our democratic institutions. Through meeting one another and having discussions among themselves, the students will learn to appreciate the diversity of Canada and privileges and responsibilities of citizenship. Enayah Shad was the appreciative delegate at last year’s conference. Hamna and Ewan are seen being congratulated by Southampton Rotary youth committee member, Dave Bertrand and Port Elgin Rotary president, Ken McCulloch.
